Legal
Terms of use
Last updated: July 10, 2026. These terms are a pre-launch working draft and will be finalised with legal counsel before bookings open.
1. Who we are
trip2rwanda ("we", "us", the "platform") is an online marketplace connecting travelers with licensed Rwandan tour operators. Tours are operated by the independent operators listed on each package — we facilitate discovery, communication, booking and payment, and we process payments as the merchant of record.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Operator accounts additionally require a valid tour operator licence issued by the Rwanda Development Board; we may suspend or remove accounts that no longer meet this requirement.
3. Bookings and payments
All prices are set and settled in US dollars; other currencies shown are indicative conversions only. A booking is confirmed when the required deposit is paid. The remaining balance is due before trip start on the schedule shown at checkout. If the balance is not paid when due, the booking may be cancelled under its cancellation policy.
We hold funds and release them to the operator in stages: a portion covering park permits may be released on confirmation so permits can be secured, with the remainder released around the trip itself. Our commission is deducted from the operator payout — travelers pay no separate booking fee.
4. Cancellations and refunds
Each package carries one of the platform's standard cancellation policies, shown before you book. Refunds are calculated under that policy from the moment you cancel. Amounts already spent on non-refundable park permits (for example RDB gorilla permits) may be non-recoverable regardless of policy — this is always indicated on the package. If an operator cancels your trip, you receive a full refund.
5. Quotes and communication
Quote requests, negotiation and offers happen on the platform. Moving a transaction off-platform to avoid commission ("disintermediation") is a breach of these terms for operators, and payments made outside the platform are not protected for travelers.
6. Operator obligations
Operators must hold a valid RDB tourism licence at all times, describe packages accurately, honour confirmed bookings and offers, and deliver the itinerary as sold. Listings are reviewed by our team before publication and may be rejected or removed for inaccuracy, misrepresentation or safety concerns.
7. Reviews
Only travelers with a completed booking can review the associated tour. Reviews must reflect genuine experience; we remove content that is fraudulent, abusive or unrelated to the trip, but we do not remove reviews merely for being negative.
8. Liability
Tours are performed by independent operators, and adventure travel carries inherent risks. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability in connection with a booking is limited to the amount you paid through the platform for that booking. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance.
9. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the platform: no fraudulent bookings, scraping, interference with other users, or unlawful content. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the platform, and continued use constitutes acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Rwanda, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kigali.
